After the great ride the previous evening in the ELBNO it was time to climb back on our bikes and head off into the hills surrounding Builth Wells for the 70k spring mararthon, the end of the route was to take in the big climbs and decents from the ELBNO so we new what was in lying in wait for us.

10:30 arrived and we set out in glorious weather, the three of us trying to ride together so Freddy could get some snaps of me and Gaz in the bunch, well the bunch at the back of the field anyway. Gaz and Freddy were climbing really well all day so they would leave me behind on the ups and i would try and catch them up on the downs. By the time we got two thirds of the way into the ride I could feel the cramp comming on so had to try and take it easy.

So after the last feed station and with the two big climbs from the night before ahead, Gaz and Freddy rode off into the distance. As I was struggling up the last climb I could only imagine Gaz and Freddy munching on bacon and egg sarnies at the finish line, only to be surprised as I caught Freddy up at the top of the last climb, as he had spent most of the climb throwing up. We rode to the finsh together for me to have another attack of cramp as we rode up to the finishline.

All in all it was a great ride but it hurt like hell, Gaz managed to get 30mins on us in the end.
